Summer on the Square

11 – 29 August 2022

A free festival of art, outside on Trafalgar Square

11am–1pm and 2–4pm, daily

This August, the National Gallery in partnership with Westminster City Council, will host Summer on the Square – a programme of free, daily creative sessions and activities to inspire you to create your own masterpieces

Art outdoors

Immerse yourself in our studio activities and be ready to sketch, make, move, explore and be inspired by the National Gallery Collection.

And when you want to take a break or sit in the sunshine (fingers crossed), Kerb have artisan food stalls serving tasty snacks – from falafel and chips to coffee and gelato.

All activities take place daily, and are open to everyone.

Drop-in sessions

All studio sessions are drop-in and open to all ages and abilities. Spaces are available on a first-come, first-served basis – you may be asked to wait during busy times.

Shop your essentials

We've got your art essentials covered – from pencils and paints, to sketch books and accessories.

All participants in the Summer on the Square art sessions will be eligible for a 10% discount in the Gallery shops by showing the leaflet distributed in the session.
