Letter from Alfred de Rothschild to Poynter

Date 29 Jan 1904

Rothschild missed viewing the two pictures recently seen by Trustees but he has been assured that the Titian is worth no more than £15,000 and the Van Dyck no more than £18,000 and therefore thinks that the National Gallery should not pay any more than this for the pictures.
