Description
Agreeing to attend a meeting in parliament [probably the Select Committee on the National Gallery at which Ford gave evidence on 4 July, see NGA48/4/1] and speak in favour of a recent purchase of a painting by Giorgione.
At the Select Committee on the National Gallery, Sir Charles Eastlake was questioned on the attribution and condition of 'A Warrior adoring the Infant Christ and the Virgin' (now attributed to Vincenzo Catena), and his apparent breach of a Treasury order occasioned by its purchase [see NG15/10, pp. 495-98]. During his evidence, Ford was not asked about the painting.
