Onofri was a pupil of Gaspard Dughet and painted principally landscapes. In 1671 he was working in the Doria Pamphili Palace in Rome and he later produced canvas paintings and frescoes of landscapes for prominent Roman families, including the Colonna, Pallavicini and Theodoli. The figures in his pictures are sometimes by other artists.
