The Acraman Family Collection
Notes relating to the influential Acraman family (involved in Bristol as merchants, particularly in heavy engineering and allied trades). Research focuses on the composition of the collection and David Wade Acraman’s (1775-1847) significant contributions towards Bristol exhibitions prior to the family’s bankruptcy. Includes photocopies of the subsequent collection sale catalogue in 1842. Also contains a copy ‘Men of Iron: the History of the McArthur Group’ by H.S. Torrens which links the family to contemporary figures.
