A dissertation written by Jane Lisle Tasker (1977) entitled "Robert Leake: Man and Politician", and researched with the assistance of Sir Geoffrey Agnew. Robert Leake and Thomas Agnew were related by marriage (both were son-in-laws of the first mayor of Salford, William Lockett). Research is also presented concerning Thomas Agnew's son, William Agnew, who was Robert Leake's first cousin, political colleague and a rival for a seat in parliament.
