Description

A file of records relating to Vittore Zanetti (circa 1746-1856) who moved from Italy to set up a business in Manchester in 1797. His business was advertised as a carvers & gilders, looking-glass and picture-frame manufactuers, thermometer makers and printsellers, and Thomas Agnew (1794-1871) was taken on as an apprentice in 1810. Master and apprentice became partners as Zanetti & Agnew in 1817, and the arrangement continued until 1828 when Zanetti retired to Italy (still as a junior partner in the firm).
