Stating that the will of Clarke left the sum of £23, 104 to the gallery in the
names of six Trustees of the National Gallery. Enquiring to the correspondent as
to the process necessary to ensure that cheques written to purchase paintings
need not be signed by all six trustees due to the inconvenience this will likely
cause.
