Sending him the Estimate of the Expenditure and Receipts of the National Gallery for 1886 - 1887 and a statement comparing this to the one for 1885 - 1886, and noting that the Treasury has been contacted concerning the annual Grant for the Purchase of Pictures and that as many important pictures still require glazing it is hoped that the provision made under Subhead 7 be reinvested in this period [Encloses the comparative statement].
