Description
Correspondence between John Erle Drax, director of Marlborough Fine Art (dealers) and Michael Levey concerning the potential purchase of the Redon. Arrangements to view the picture and discussion of the price, which is initially given as $325,000 but is then reduced to $310,000 (£181,551.98). This is agreed by the Trustees and funds are drawn on 16 February 1977. Press release announcing the acquisition. Correspondence with John Christian, secretary of the National Art Collections Fund, discussing the possibility of a contribution towards the total purchase price by the NACF. £5,000 contribution from the NACF is agreed. Papers from the Finance department recording purchase.
