Provenance

The portrait belonged to Edmond Beaucousin (1806–1866) in Paris and was bought in 1860 with the rest of the Beaucousin collection. Wornum ordered a new frame on 11 February 1860 and received it on 10 March. It was hung in the Gallery on 22–23 March 1860.1
