Description

These files relate mainly to applications for permission to reproduce images and/or quote from manuscripts and printed sources in his book; Robertson kept meticulous records of these requests considering it 'Better [to be] gratefully scrupulous than thoughtlessly piractica!' (NGA58/4/2, letter to Allen & Unwin, 20 Sep 1975). Robertson has annotated several file covers with the date, type of reproduction fee and cost. These and other files, however, may also include correspondence and papers relating to Robertson's research on Eastlake (particularly genealogical, manuscript and picture research), feedback on draft chapters and copies of booksellers' catalogues. To this extent, there is some overlap with the research files NGA58/3 and publication files NGA58/4.

Following Robertson's filing scheme, the files have arranged alphabetically by name of individual or institution.
