Description
A letter from Lockett Agnew on 5 Jan 1905 to David Croal Thomson offering advice on how to deal with sales on behalf of the firm. He discusses the attack made upon them in the "Sun", whether the law prevents a dealer to sue another for "fake misrepresentation which is made in good faith", and a number of mistakes made by the Sun article. He also refers to the Andrea del Sarto picture offered to the Metropolitan Museum, suggests that Mr Morgan should be involved in assisting the sale, and makes note of those he would go to concerning authentication for certain schools of painting; Mr Fairfax Murray, Dr Bredius of the Hague Museum, and Dr Friedlauder of the Berlin Museum.
