Description
Copy record of letter from William Lockett Agnew to Reginald Young, written to enclose with a cheque for Alexander Young's share of the proceeds of sale by the firm of Agnew's of three paintings:
The Bent Tree, Evening Effect by Jean-Baptiste-Camille Corot
The Environs de Douai by Jean-Baptiste-Camille Corot
The Bord de la Riviere by Charles-François Daubigny
The letter also refers to Reginald Young's dissatisfaction with the prices the firm of Agnew's is willing to accept for their sale works from Alexander Young's collection and takes issue with the tone and content of his correspondence, with the threat that unless this changes the firm may let the remainder of works be sold at Christie's by auction rather than giving them special attention.
The Bent Tree, Evening Effect by Jean-Baptiste-Camille Corot was acquired by the National Gallery through the Salting Bequest in 1910, catalogued as The Leaning Tree Trunk, inventory number NG2625.
