Copy record of a letter (typed and handwritten) from Charles Gerald Agnew to Colin Agnew regarding discussions he has had with [Frank] Rinde, [art adviser to the Felton Bequest], over the proposed price and sale to Melbourne, Australia of 'Philosopher' by Veronese and those between the firm of Agnew's and [Baron Detlev von] Hadeln, art historian, and [Wilhelm Reinhold] Valentiner, regarding the painting's quality.
Colin Agnew also refers to the half share in a painting by [Lorenzo] Lotto held by the firm of Agnew's with Hadeln, the potential sale of 'Salome' by Lucas van Leyden to Charles Clarke, the proposed sale of 'Tintoretto 6335,' the shipping to the firm of Agnew's in New York of a work by [William] Dobson, the removal of varnish from two works by Canaletto, the damaged Veronese (from the collection of Francis Howard damaged during shipping), Colin Agnew's opinions on how Veronese in the N[ational] G[allery] compares to works by other artists (with sketch of how these are hung) and on Colin Agnew remaining in New York.
