Description
Four letters from Herbert P. Horne to Sir Edward Poynter offering for sale a painting by S. Botticelli on behalf of the Marchese Farinola for 25,000 to 30,000 lira in Florence. The picture had originally been sold to a Florentine who never payed the money and subsequently re-offered to the National Gallery with the expectation the painting would be sent to London for inspection first. The offer was declined.
