The Sainsbury Wing
Uncover archive materials that reveal the history of the Gallery
About
Join us for an archive show-and-tell session, led by Alan Crookham (Chief Librarian and Archivist) and Nicholas Smith (Archivist) from our Research Centre. You'll learn about the history of the Sainsbury Wing through the study of rarely seen archival materials.
Alan and Nick will give an overview of the site’s history, from a car park in the post-war years, onto the architectural design controversy of the 1980s, to the building's opening in 1991.
