About

These workshops are designed for everyone - artists and participants of all abilities are not only welcome but actively encouraged to join. Each session focuses on a single painting from the collection, using drawing as a tool for close looking, reflection and personal engagement.

After meeting in Supporters' House, we begin in the Gallery with a 45-minute drawing session, exploring one painting through a variety of observational and experimental approaches. Together, we will consider questions such as: How do we look at a painting? How do we respond to it? What can drawing reveal about our experience of an artwork?

Following the Gallery session, we return to the Salon in Supporters’ House for refreshments and discussion. Participants can reflect on their drawings, share observations and learn more about the historical and artistic context of the featured work. By combining close looking, creative practice and conversation, the workshops aim to deepen our understanding of both the artist’s intentions and our own intuitive responses to art.

Drawing materials, and refreshments are all provided.
