About

On the anniversary of his birth, expert guide Muriel Carré guides a tour of paintings by Peter Paul Rubens; one of the most prolific and successful artists in Europe in the early 17th century.

In demand at all the courts of Europe as an artist and as a diplomat, Rubens worked on a grand scale, relying on a large and well-trained studio to produce monumental altarpieces, portraits, history paintings of mythological or allegorical subjects and even landscapes.

Carré explores some of his great paintings characterised by striking compositions, expressive movement, erudite narratives, brilliant colours and sensual flesh tones. A formidable feast for the eyes.
