About

This lively life drawing session led by Gallery Educators Emily Motto and Joanna Conybeare features banners made by the artists Ed Hall and Jeremy Deller, exploring the body in the act of procession and demonstration.

Taking inspiration from Jeremy Deller’s previous work like 'Folk Archive' with Alan Kane in 2005 and 'Procession' in 2009, we take the banners from the street and place them in the Gallery to be closely observed and drawn by you.

Jeremy Deller is the National Gallery’s Bicentenary commissioned artist with The Triumph of Art. A nationwide performance that takes us towards and concludes our Bicentenary celebrations. It marks how festivals are part and parcel of art, culture and civic life, and that art and artists can be catalysts of collaboration and joy.

All materials are provided, and all levels are welcome.

This Friday Late is organised in conjunction with ‘The Triumph of Art’, our nationwide commission with artist Jeremy Deller, supported by The Art Fund.
