About
This Research Seminar offers a curatorial reflection on the recent exhibition ‘The Carracci Drawings: The Making of the Farnese Gallery’, held between November 2025 and February 2026 at the Musée du Louvre in Paris.
The exhibition introduced audiences to the spectacular Renaissance decorated interior of Rome’s Palazzo Farnese, showcasing an extraordinary collection of preparatory drawings made for the Palazzo’s painted gallery produced by the artist Annibale Carraci, his brother Agostino, and their students.
Complementing the show, an accompanying exhibition catalogue aimed to be more exhaustive, publishing the entire body of preparatory drawings made by the Carracci brothers for the Palazzo.
In this talk, the exhibition’s curator , Victor Hundsbuckler, shares his experiences in developing both the exhibition and accompanying catalogue, as well as discussing key issues that shaped both projects.
The seminar will last an hour followed by a drinks reception.
