Informing him that he has several unopened letters not yet forwarded on, and asking whether he wants them forwarded to Milan, that a Mr Thibaudeau called to offer a picture by Bonnington which might be bought out of the Wheeler Bequest, that a lady called Mignaty of Florence has offered a Correggio, that the ‘Amor & Castitas’ [now ascribed to del Fora and entitled ‘The Combat of Love and Chastity’] is already described as of the Tuscan School, that a Miss Lippincott offers a portrait of her ancestor by Lemuel Abbott [Henry Byne of Carshalton, now transferred to Tate] as a gift, and that the Indian pictures have not yet arrived.
