Heinrich Bürkel
1802 - 1869
Bürkel studied in Munich. He first visited Italy in 1829 and subsequently stayed in Rome on several occasions. He spent most of his working career in Germany, however, and was recognised as an important member of the German landscape school. In 1858, Bürkel was made an honorary member of the Dresden, Vienna and Munich Academies.
