Andrea Schiavone
active about 1530; died 1564
His name was Andrea Meldolla. He was called Schiavone (the 'Slavonian') because he came from Zara on the Dalmatian coast. He spent most of his life working in Venice. His style was derived from Parmigianino, he was also influenced by Venetian colouring. He was on friendly terms with Titian.
Schiavone was one of the founders of the Venetian style of Mannerism, and an influence on Tintoretto.
