Mezzotint engraving featuring a portrait of Nelson placed above an illustration of the Battle of the Nile. Below is an elaborate inscription which includes 'This portrait of Admiral Lord Nelson and the View of the Situation of the English and French Fleets. are zealously inscribed to J.J. Angerstein Esq. And the gentlemen who have so humanely, strenuously & successfully exerted themselves for the relief of Widows and Orphans of those Seamen who bravely fell on the above occasion'. The Nile Subscription Fund was formed in 1798 under the Angerstein's chairmanship.
