Offering Richard and Mary Ford an opportunity to view Lear's recently completed painting 'Syracuse, from the ancient Quarries' where the Athenians were imprisoned', requesting advice about the climate of Granada, of which the panorama of which in Ford's Handbook for Travellers in Spain has made Lear 'frantic', and reporting having recently seen Philip's painting of the Seville dance.
