Description
From Hotel de la Ville, Milan [in Lady Eastlake's hand]: Eastlake wants information on a picture by Giovanni Santi in the collection of Count Mazza of Ferrara (from whom he had purchased Garofalo NG671); an agent must identify the picture (NG751). He gives additions to his description of the Gerolamo dai Libri (NG748). He has been advised not to spend the winter in England, and plans to go to Pisa. Would then go to see the Signorelli in Florence (not acquired). He wants to know if there is a precedent for applying for leave of absence for ill-health. He intends to prepare the annual Report. Negotiations for the Mocenigo Carpaccio progress (NG750).
