Correspondence with Janson Cobb Pearson (solicitors) concerning Nicholas Andre Argenti's bequest of 'A View of Rhenen seen from the West' and the fact that this bequest includes a life interest for the widow of Argenti. Details of clauses 6 (f) and 8 (a) in the will, which explain the details of the life interest. Correspondence with Janson Cobb Pearson organizing delivery of the picture to the National Gallery and its inpection by the Trustees prior to official acceptance. Correspondence between Gregory Martin (Assistant Keeper) and A.G. Fast (step-son of Argenti) detailing the timescale for exhibition of the bequest and the removal of two birds from the picture due to the fact that tests had established they were a later addition to the work and therefore not produced by Ruysdael.
