Ancient Roman architect and author of ‘On Architecture (De Architectura)’, the only architectural treatise to survive from ancient Rome. This work was of great importance in the 'rediscovery' of Ancient Roman architecture in the Renaissance, and formed the model for many subsequent treatises throughout Europe.
