NG Citizens: Session Two
6 December 2025
Last weekend, NG Citizens came together again to start exploring some of the most complex issues facing art galleries in the UK.
In the first session last month, Assembly members spent time getting to know one another, exploring the Gallery, and beginning to share their visions for the future - groundwork that created the conditions for thoughtful, collaborative discussions in session two.
This time, they spent time with subject matter experts discussing issues such as:
- Unequal access to art galleries,
- The changes facing the sector due to new technologies and AI,
- The wider public value of the arts.
They also started to dig into the Gallery’s audience data and considered some of the barriers and enablers to people visiting the Gallery.
In January 2026, Assembly members will meet again for session three, in person, at the Gallery, to continue their learning and to start forming the final recommendations about the future.
