About

Taking inspiration from this year’s Take One Picture, The Courtyard of a House in Delft by Pieter de Hooch, we’ll think about how familiar spaces, like courtyards, kitchens, gardens, or doorways, can become places where memories live. What stories hide in the corners of these everyday scenes?

In this family workshop, you’ll create your own 'memory palace' mobile, using collage, drawing and mixed materials to reimagine the Delft courtyard as a space filled with your own stories. What would your memory palace hold? A smell, a sound, a favourite object, or a person you love?

Your Artist

Hannah Cushion is an artist and museum educator who explores memory, place, and personal storytelling within her practice. The Memory Bank project seeks to capture the multiple stories objects and places have to tell, using drawing, memory exchanges, walks, and participatory workshops to invite participants to share and record their memories.
