About

Let the beautiful and complicated landscapes of José María Velasco inspire you in this Members’ creative writing workshop.

Velasco painted the landscapes of the Valley of Mexico as it transformed with industrialisation, juxtaposing a verdant oasis of flora, mountains and volcanoes with the metallic, fast-paced structures of trainlines and modernisation.

How can this contrasting relationship be a site for continued imagination? In this creative writing workshop, join artist and writer Sheyamali Sudesh to use Velasco's exquisite and intricate paintings as prompts for our own writing.

Please have your preferred writing tools ready.

Speaker

Sheyamali Sudesh (she/they) is an interdisciplinary artist and educator. They were previously a National Gallery Young Producer.
