Myra Hess Festival
A celebration of Myra Hess’s legacy of music at the Gallery to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the end of the Second World War
Friday 10 October
Our festivities start with a lunchtime concert in words and music, led by author Jessica Duchen and pianist Lara Melda.
In the afternoon, Suzanne Bosman gives a lecture about the Gallery's wartime history, and the day concludes with an evening piano concert by acclaimed pianist Clare Hammond.
Saturday 11 October
All the family are invited to our morning's special events. Clare Hammond performs a piano concert for families in our lecture theatre. Afterwards, storyteller Fiona Alderton and lute player Andrew Maginley lead a magical musical tour of the Gallery.
The festival ends with an afternoon of relaxed music by pianist Karim Kamar and Music Masters participants, on the very spot where Myra Hess held her remarkable wartime concert series.
