About

Award-winning artist Richard Long has created 'Mud Sun', a major new work for newly re-opened Sainsbury Wing. The five-by-six metre hand-drawn disc of primeval mud rises at the top of the main staircase, welcoming visitors to the collections of Early Renaissance art.

Join Daniel F. Herrmann, Ardalan Curator of Modern and Contemporary Projects, for an on-site talk about the making of 'Mud Sun' and its meaning for the National Gallery's collection and the history of painting.

Due to the location of this artwork this is a standing talk, and may need to move to an adjacent room if busy.
