Description
Appointed a Trustee 24 June 1955 and elected Chairman in July 1959. He became the Tate Liaison Trustee on 8 Oct 1959. Retired on 23 June 1962, reappointed 6 April 1965 and elected Chairman on 2 February 1967. He retired on 5 April 1972. NG26/78/1-3 are Gallery files on Sir John Witt; NG26/78/4-7 were deposited with the Gallery from the estate of Sir John Witt by his son Christopher Witt on 25 January 1985. They were all transferred to the Archive as part of the same series and have remained listed together.
