The files contain the Gallery's correspondence with Trustees. The correspondence may include specific issues such as acquisitions and building projects as well as biographical material such as details of the Trustee's appointment and occasionally a short curriculum vitae.

Administrative history

Separate files of correspondence with the Trustees were compiled from 1914 onwards. Prior to this, correspondence with the Trustees formed part of the general correspondence series (NG5 and NG7).

Custodial history

The files were transferred to the Archive from the Directors' office. Originally, files 1-80 were part of the Archive series NG16, but in 1995 were removed from there and reclassified as a new series.

Your list will only be saved temporarily. Inactivity of more than 20 minutes could result in the loss of your list. If you would like to keep a record of your list, we suggest you print it out or email it to yourself.

Your list of records will be sent to us if you request an appointment, and a summary will be included in your appointment email notification.
