This year’s 'Take One Picture' exhibition demonstrates the innovative ways in which schoolchildren have responded to Rubens’s vibrant Roman Triumph.
The National Gallery's 22nd annual 'Take One Picture' exhibition showcases work by schoolchildren from across England and one British school in Brunei.
From architectural studies and printmaking to ceramics and shadow puppets, visitors can enjoy a diverse range of exciting works reflecting the richness and exuberance of the honorary procession depicted by Flemish artist Peter Paul Rubens.
Children’s responses were inspired by details they found in the painting such as dancing maidens, sacrificial animals, trumpeters and pipe players, a pontifex (priest), a soothsayer, elephants bearing fruit and incense burners, and the temple that sits on the hill in the background.
