St Veronica

According to legend Saint Veronica (whose name, 'vera icon', means true image) came to Christ while he was carrying his cross on the way to Calvary, and wiped the sweat from his face; the cloth she used became miraculously imprinted with an image of his features. The cloth, also called the veil or Sudarium, is preserved as a relic at St Peter's in Rome.
