Thanks her for her kind words about Lady Eastlake's biography of Mrs Grote: 'To introduce Mrs [Harriet] Grote to those who had not had the privilege of know[in]g her was my great object. I am very glad when her friends assure me that the portrait is true, but more glad to hear that you feel it must be true. And yet she was more remarkable than any words can convey'. Recalls that Sir Frederick and Lady Pollock were among the first friends to whom Sir Charles introduced her.
