Description
Informs him that the print will not be finished until the end of the year and will be dedicated to him; advises that the materials including ultramarine have been packed with Severn's picture; Eastlake's picture has gone in a case addressed to Brockedon [probably 'A Contadina and Children' (1825)], which he asked Phillips to exhibit at the British Gallery this winter; one of the editors of a popular annual will ask leave to engrave it ['A Contadina and Children' was engraved in The Amulet]; transcribes financial accounts; has received reports about the reception of his picture at exhibition ['The Spartan Isadas', Royal Academy, 1827, no. 285]; Eastlake says his taste in painting is more influenced by old Italian art than Flemish.
Includes Robertson's numbered summary of the letter's content. Purchased from Emily Driscoll Autographs and Manuscripts (see NGA58/1/10).
