Copy record of a letter from Thomas Agnew & Sons to General Sir Arthur Ellis, Extra Equerry and Comptroller of Accounts in the household of King Edward VII, regarding the confirmation of the King's approval of the firm of Agnew's preparation and publication of a Coronation picture by the commissioned artist Edwin Austin Abbey R.A. The letter references the price paid to the artist, his concerns and emphasises the terms of the original commission, namely that no other artist be accorded the privilege of painting the Coronation, asking that these terms be represented to the King. A separate note is attached, stating that a watercolour sketch of the work in preparation can be provided upon request.
