Description
Acknowledging the receipt of two letters from Burton, dated 30 and 31 October, and saying that the Savoldo portrait has been kept reserved awaiting an answer from London. He confirms that the painting is in good condition, apart from a few minor details, and that he is willing to sell it to the Gallery for £350. He refers to the difficulties that he encountered in acquiring the picture from Conte Fenaroli, whose family always considered it to be by Titian.
