Description
Letter from Reverend W. Fowler Johnson to H. M. Queen Victoria bringing to her attention two paintings, 'The Virgin and Child' and 'The Repose of the Holy Family in Egypt' by Carreggio. The pictures had been purchased for the Royal Palace or for the Nation during the reign of King George IV in 1829 and had been stored ever since. A forwarding note addressed to Lord John Russell is included.
