Description

Letter from Robert Goff to the Trustees offering 6 paintings by old masters as a gift to the National Gallery, including a Madonna and Child surrounded by Angels by Botticelli, Christ bearing his cross (dated 1535) by Marco Palmegiani da Farli (or Palmezzano), Madonna and two children by Ridolfo Carradi (or Ghirlandajo), a painting of a philosopher bearing the initials A.C. which the writer believes is consistent in style with the work of Annibale Carracci, Europe and the Bull by Francesco Albani, and A Forest Scene by Salvator Rosa.
