Description
Correspondence with Messrs Stibbard, Gibson & Co, solicitors to the executors of the late Honourable Clare E. Stuart Wortley re her bequest of a portrait of 'A Young Man in a Grey Coat' by Stuart, 1945 and seeking the permission of the executors for the picture to pass to the Tate upon its separation from the NG, 1954. Also includes letters to and from Beatrice Cecil, an executor to her late sister's will agreeing to the transfer provided the picture could be placed on display, 28 & 29 Jul 1954 and a letter from Gibson to Norman Reid, Deputy Director, Tate re her wishes and those of the executors of H.F. Tomalin and O.S. Ashcroft with respect to the display of pictures bequeathed, 29 Jul 1954
