The Lamentation with Donors and Saints
On loan from the Trustees of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Southwark, © Trustees of Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Southwark

This painting shows three episodes relating to the death of Christ. In the foreground, Christ's dead body lies before a group of mourning donors and saints, including a nun on the far left, with Saint Augustine behind her, and Saint Cecilia standing on the right.

Christ's body displays the wounds of his recent Crucifixion, the site of which is shown in the background. A distant scene showing the Entombment of Christ is visible on the hillside to the left of the picture.
