Curators' introduction to 'Radical Harmony'

Stream a recording of this exclusive Members’ event: curators Christopher Riopelle and Julien Domercq introduce our latest exhibition, 'Radical Harmony'

  • Members watch on demand for £10

Stream this 70-minute curator's special Members' introduction to ‘Radical Harmony: Helene Kröller-Müller's Neo-Impressionists’ with exhibition curators Christopher Riopelle and Julien Domercq.

Neo-Impressionists embraced an exciting new approach to colour and painting, using small dots of pure colour to create nuanced tones and an illusion of light. When first displayed, critics thought this new style of painting might bring about the death of painting itself. This radical new style of painting reflected the radical new political ideas of late 19th-century Europe.

Georges Seurat, Paul Signac, Anna Boch, Jan Toorop and Henri-Edmond Cross painted luminous landscapes, portraits and interior scenes, but also the struggles of the working class.

Christopher and Julien introduce the Neo-Impressionists and the incredible paintings in this exhibition.
