About

Join us for an afternoon of relaxed performances by Karim Kamar together with Music Masters participants, set in the heart of the Gallery - on the very spot where Myra Hess held her remarkable wartime concert series.

On this special occasion, pick up one of our musical instrument trails and enjoy a family, self-led hunt around the Gallery to spot as many instruments as you can. Once you've found them all, head to the Roden Centre for Creative Learning to collect a sticker and enjoy even more fun activities!

Karim Kamar

Karim Kamar is a Neo-Classical pianist and composer from London. He has been performing as a solo pianist since 2013 and has performed at almost every major music venue in London including: The Jazz Cafe, The Roundhouse, Ronnie Scotts, Southbank Centre and The Royal Albert Hall. Along with writer and poet, Anthony Anaxagorou, he also runs a monthly live music night called Out-Spoken, which showcases poetry recitals and new music.

Music Masters

Music Masters believes that all children deserve the opportunity to achieve their greatest creative potential, regardless of background or individual needs. Since 2008, more than 3,500 children in under-served London communities have thrived through their music programme in state primary schools, and over 28,000 children from Aberdeen to Penzance have benefited from game-changing teaching delivered by their ever-growing network of graduate teachers. The National Gallery has been collaborating with Music Masters since 2019.
