About

Join Deaf lecturer Alan Murray as he introduces our acclaimed exhibition 'Wright of Derby: From the Shadows' and explores other paintings from our collection.

This talk examines Wright of Derby’s'‘candlelight’ paintings, which focus on the interplay of light and darkness and illuminates the faces gathered around instruments of spectacle and science.

We will reflect on the moral questions the artist poses through this dramatic use of light.

The lecture will take place in the Whitcomb Room. Please meet in the Sainsbury Wing Foyer at 6pm to be escorted up to the room.

This session will be led by a Deaf lecturer in British Sign Language with interpretation in spoken English.
