Musicians
Nina Plapp is an improvisational cellist and composer from the UK, who studied classical cello at Trinity College of Music, London. Plapp has performed with major international artists including Rox, Angie Brown (Fatboy Slim, Bizarre inc.) Alison David (Red Snapper), and has supported The Charlatans.
She composes for theatre, dance and mixed media projects and has had her music performed in the USA, China and the UK. She is the winner of the 'journey of a lifetime award' and produced a radio documentary for the BBC charting her musical adventure, exploring the music heritage of gypsy communities from Rajasthan to Romania.
Wai Sin was born in 1995 in Hong Kong. She started learning the piano at the age of four but turned her lifetime interest onto the violin at the age of nine. Wai Sin has performed as a soloist with the Welsh Symphonia, Royal Birmingham Conservatoire Symphony Orchestra and Wells Virtuosi.
She has learnt from a number of renowned musicians, either in masterclasses or private lessons, including James Ehnes, Lin Yao Ji and So-Ock Kim. An active chamber musician, Wai Sin has been a member of the Varzar Quartet for the past four years, which has performed at numerous Chamber Music Festivals and notable venues. These include Symphony Hall (Birmingham), Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery, Central Library, New Alexandra Theatre and Birmingham Hippodrome. Wai Sin is currently studying at the Royal Academy of Music under Joshua Fisher.
